May I introduce myself

© Thomas Traub
My minimalist landscape photographs are in contrast to the spectacular images of nature that are posted millions of times on social media. They are my attempt to show the beauty of nature on a small scale by means of their reduced representation, to point out their fragility and the inherent vulnerability.
In general, my photographic work is not about creating and reproducing an exact image of reality. It is characterized by the impressions and emotions at the time of its making, and by the influences and moods that were triggered in me by looking at the works of other photographers and painters. Without restricting myself by stylistic guidelines and rules or allowing myself to be restricted from the outside but simply following my own way of interpreting reality.
Born in Vienna in 1960, I have been living and working in my hometown again since 2012 after many years in Germany and Spain. As an IT business consultant/project manager and, since 2018, also as a professional photographer. My first contact with photography was at the age of 10. From the 1980s onwards, I acquired basic technical and practical knowledge on a self-taught basis and began to take photography seriously for the first time. After another long break, I made a second attempt to establish myself as a photographer. Initially as a documentarian of various trips through Europe and Asia and since 2020 in the field of conceptual and artistic photography.
